Jing Bing Tires
Project Transportation
While in remote portions of E. Malaysia on recent journey in 2019 we were able to provide safe transportation through one of our on going projects. Upon arrival at the tip of Borneo Island near the south China sea we were waiting for our transportation to the camp site for the first night of ministry activities. The host walked up to me and gave me a set of keys to a vehicle and said “ you will be driver for the week.” Wow, I am about to drive to a place I have never been before, in a country I had never been before.
So, I agreed and decided to go inspect the kind of vehicle which I agreed to driving. It was a small white van that had a diesel engine and a manual transmission. For all those that may not know, this is known as stick shift and has a clutch to operate it. I learned later, I was chosen due to me being the only one that could drive this style. As I walked around it and looked closer at the tires, all four were slick, slick! Immediately I prayed on the spot the following prayer; “ Lord, I need your help, I need tires and a tire shop to change them”.
As I walked back into the reception area which overlooked a pool, I seen one of our team members talking to a young man poolside. I walked down not to introduce myself and he replied his name was Jing Bing. While talking to him about this area of Borneo, which he was a native of, the question came to me to ask about tires. Not only did he know where tires and a shop was located, his best friend owned it. He immediate texted him with the size and received a quote. Wow, What a immediate answer to prayer!
Before leaving the states a faithful partner walked up and handed me a certain amount of monies and said “ I am led to help you with this toward a need that will present itself.” After receiving the quote from our new friend, it was the same amount donated by this partner. In fact it was less, but allowed for a tip since they were able to put them on right away for us. What a success story of donors and immediate connection to a need that made safe passage. I must tell you in another story about how I learned to drive back a forth without GPS.
